This is an old product of Fukagawa Porcelain, which is under the Imperial Household Agency's warrant. The pattern on the bamboos is a turtle shell in vermilion, representing longevity. The swirls on the dark indigo indicate water (=summer), both of which are often used in kimono patterns. The reverse side of the dish is decorated with a pine leaf, a pattern that is auspicious with the combination of pine and bamboo. The combination of vermilion and dark indigo is beautiful.
